A.J. Brown Doesn’t Hold Back on Jalen Hurts’ 5 Turnovers During Eagles Loss to Chargers

The Philadelphia Eagles have been an enigma for the better part of the 2025-26 NFL season. The defending Super Bowl champions, coming off one of the more dominant performances in a Super Bowl, against the dynastic Kansas City Chiefs, hoped to follow in the Chiefs’ footsteps this year with back-to-back championships.

While that goal got off to a hot start, with the Eagles starting the season 4-0, it has been a rollercoaster of inconsistency ever since. Following a disappointing overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on “Monday Night Football”, the Eagles have now lost three consecutive games and, standing at 8-5 on the season.

The Eagles quarterback, and Super Bowl 59 MVP, Jalen Hurts has also regressed tremendously during the team’s losing-streak. Heading into Monday night’s showdown with the Chargers, Hurts had just five turnovers on the season (two interceptions and three fumbles). Hurts had five turnovers in his team’s 22-19 overtime loss to the Chargers on Monday night alone.

A.J. Brown Reveals Feelings on Jalen Hurts’ 5 Turnovers vs. Chargers

The entire Eagles offense has been under the microscope this season for its struggles, but the majority of the questions and concern seem to be falling at the feet of the QB, Hurts. Following Monday’s loss to the Chargers, reporters asked Eagles wide receiver, A.J. Brown what he thinks is contributing to Hurts’ sudden turnover problem.

“I think all of us has our hand in that pocket. We are trying to get better. Obviously as the quarterback he’s going to get a lot of stuff for it, but we in this thing together. Like I said, like today, that one (interception) across the middle, I’m more than capable of making that catch. You can’t put that on him. He was under pressure and it ain’t gonna be perfect. It was a tough game, it was a tough opponent, it was a tough night. We’re just trying to do whatever we can to get the job done,” Brown said.

Hurts’ five turnovers included four interceptions and one fumble. Hurts even became the first player in NFL history to have two turnovers on the same play. After throwing an interception, he was able to recover a fumble on the same play, however, he would quickly fumble the ball directly back to the Chargers.

And Hurts’ final interception proved to be the last straw of a hard fought overtime battle between the Eagles and Chargers. With 2:35 remaining in overtime, after the Chargers made a field goal to go up 22-19, Hurts appeared to be attempting to squeeze a pass in between two Chargers defenders to Eagles WR, Johan Dotson. The ball was tipped by one defender, and ultimately intercepted by another.

While the Eagles still sit atop the NFC East at 8-5, they’ve allowed the surging Dallas Cowboys, winners of three of their last four, to reappear in the rearview mirror. With just four games remaining in the regular season, the 6-6-1 Cowboys still have a chance to catch the Eagles for a division title. And if Hurts can’t solve his newfound turnover problem, his Eagles could surpass the 2023 Los Angeles Rams as the latest team to miss the playoffs the year after winning the Super Bowl.
