Raptors’ Quickley to miss NBA Cup game with illness

Toronto Raptors point guard Immanuel Quickley will miss the team’s Emirates NBA Cup game against the New York Knicks on Tuesday due to an illness, TSN’s Josh Lewenberg reports.
Immanuel Quickley will miss tonight’s NBA Cup quarterfinals game with an illness. Jamal Shead is available (and will presumably get plenty of run with IQ out).

Quickley, 26, has started all 25 games for the Raptors this season, and has averaged 16.5 points, 6.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Jamal Shead will be available after he was questionable to play with a right-quad contusion and may be expected to pick up the load with Quickley out.
Quickley joins a growing list of injured guards that already includes RJ Barrett (out with a right knee sprain) and forward Jamison Battle (doubtful with a left ankle sprain).
The Raptors will host the Knicks in the first knockout game of the Emirates NBA Cup, with a trip to Las Vegas for the semi-final round on the line.
Toronto swept their Group A opponents in the round robin phase, finishing with a point differential of plus-55. They were the first team to clinch a spot in the knockout stage in the league, which is a far cry from the previous two iterations of the tournament in which the Raptors won a combined two out of eight games.
The Raptors (15-10) will face a tall task against Jalen Brunson and the Knicks (16-7), who enter Tuesday’s action ranked second in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks throttled the Raptors 116-94 on Nov. 30.
