The British actress chose an Erdem Spring 2026 dress from the same collection Zoe Saldana turned to for her Avatar: Fire and Ash China premiere, also on Monday. But while Zoe embraced a softer, dreamier interpretation, Ella’s outing landed in a very different place.
This dress is bold, intricate and undeniably editorial, but the ribbons make it feel quite chaotic. I’d be the first to reach for scissors — both as a wearer and a stylist — because they interfere with the silhouette. And if I’m really nitpicking, I feel that this design would have worked better strapless dress, letting the corsetry and embroidery do the talking without the added visual noise.
That said, the black pumps do make sense here; they ground the look by echoing the dark embroidery on the bodice.
This is the kind of dress that thrives in a lookbook or a high-fashion shoot, and while Ella looks confident, the runway fantasy doesn’t fully translate on the red carpet for me.
