Man of Tomorrow Cast Update Reveals Frontrunner Details for DCU’s Brainiac

A new rumor has emerged online regarding who may be the frontrunner to play Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow.

DC Studios and Warner Bros Pictures’ Man of Tomorrow is the forthcoming follow-up movie to 2025’s Superman. Releasing in United States theaters in 2027, Man of Tomorrow is directed by James Gunn. It will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Holt reprise their respective roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lex Luthor.

After much speculation, TheWrap reported last month that Brainiac will be the main antagonist in Man of Tomorrow. There’s been much chatter and online rumors fluttering around regarding who might play the villain in the DCU movie, with Matt Smith’s name being one that has come up frequently; however, no casting has been officially announced at this time.

What is the rumored Man of Tomorrow cast update?

According to scooper Grace Randolph, the person who is currently the frontrunner in Man of Tomorrow is “someone Gunn has worked with before, quite a bit.” Dave Bautista’s name comes up frequently in the comments under the post, though other guesses include Chris Pratt or Chukwudi Iwuji.

This is just a rumor, and it should be treated as such at this time. Gunn has not publicly commented on the matter of Brainiac’s casting, but he has been disapprovingly outspoken about Randolph’s reporting in the past.

Man of Tomorrow will be released in United States theaters on July 9, 2027. Right now, it is scheduled to be the fourth movie that is part of Gunn and Safran’s DCU after Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface; however, there’s always the possibility that some other project could come out before Man of Tomorrow, as there are a lot of other movies that have been announced by do not yet have release dates.

Superman, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
