STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — Olmsted County Sheriff’s deputies are on scene at Stewartville High School and Middle School investigating a “critical incident,” according to a Facebook post.

Additional details about the incident were not immediately available on Friday morning.

“There is no threat to the students, staff or public at this time,” the post said.

Stewartville Schools are closed Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, due to an emergency at the high school, according to an email to parents from Stewartville Superintendent Belinda Selfors.

The Post Bulletin has reached out to Selfors and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office for more information.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
