Louisville vs Indiana basketball game, one take from UofL’s win

Louisville Cardinals basketball showed it can win when freshman guard Mikel Brown Jr. doesn’t have a great game offensively.

Louisville basketball begins a new chapter of its longtime rivalry with Memphis today at the KFC Yum! Center.

The No. 11 Cardinals (8-1) and Tigers (4-4) have played 90 times dating back to 1949 — but not since 2017. Today’s showdown between coaches Pat Kelsey and Penny Hardaway will kick off a six-year series and feature the retirement of the late Junior Bridgeman’s No. 10 jersey and a celebration of the program’s 1975 Final Four appearance.

UofL had a week off after beating then-No. 19 Indiana on Dec. 6 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, bouncing back from a loss at then-No. 23 Arkansas three days prior.

This will also be Memphis’ first game in a week. The Tigers pushed their winning streak to three in a row with a 78-71 victory over Baylor on Dec. 6 at home. As of Friday morning, they were 119th in the NET and 64th on KenPom.com’s adjusted efficiency rankings.

Here’s what you need to know to follow today’s game from home:

UofL and Memphis are scheduled to tip off at 3:30 p.m. today inside the Yum! Center.

Betting odds: Louisville is a 15 ½-point favorite (-118) on DraftKings, which set the over/under at 159 ½ points (-112 / -108).

The game between the Cards and the Tigers will air on ESPN, which is channel 602 on AT&T U-Verse; channel 206 on DirecTV; channel 140 on Dish; and channel 506 on Spectrum. Wes Durham (play-by-play) and Cory Alexander (analyst) will be on the call.

If you subscribe to a cable package, you’ll be able to livestream the game via ESPN.com and the ESPN app. If you don’t have cable, you can livestream the game via ESPN+ (subscriber only) or Fubo, which offers a free trial here.

Paul Rogers (play-by-play) and Bob Valvano (analyst) will have the call on the Cardinal Sports Network (WLCL 93.9-FM and WGTK 970-AM in Louisville).
