John Cena Hypes WWE Retirement Match vs. Gunther With Social Media Photo

Just hours before his retirement match, John Cena made a social media post indicating that he is about to go into battle one final time.
On Instagram, Cena posted a picture of warriors preparing to fight in the Roman Colosseum:
If a pro wrestling ring is Cena’s version of the Colosseum, then Saturday will mark the last time he is ever inside one competitively.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., Cena will take on Gunther in his retirement match. Gunther earned the right to face Cena by winning the 16-man Last Time Is Now tournament.
Fans and wrestlers alike have celebrated Cena in recent days and weeks leading up to his swan song, and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was among those to honor Cena on Saturday:
It was a fitting tribute on the day of Cena’s final match since Angle was the first opponent Cena ever faced upon getting called up to WWE’s main roster in 2002.
Since then, Cena has established himself as one of the all-time greats, holding world titles on a record 17 separate occasions.
The 48-year-old veteran has spent the entirety of 2025 on his retirement tour, and while it has had its ups and downs, he is shaping off to have a spectacular send-off on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Gunther has announced his intention to make Cena tap out for the first time in over two decades, giving Cena one final chance to overcome the odds and send his fans home happy.
