Calgary saw a bit of a warm-up over the weekend, but a dramatic 38-degree temperature drop is on the way.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), Calgary is set to see a relatively warm week, before a temperature drop to nearly -30°C this upcoming weekend.

Monday’s high of 11°C is the warmest temperature we will see this week, before dropping to -7°C overnight. Tuesday is keeping the mild trend going with a daytime high of 4°C and an overnight low of -2°C.

By Wednesday, Calgary will be back to below-freezing daytime temperatures, with a high of -2°C and a chance of flurries, followed by a chilly low of -13°C at night. Thursday offers a little relief with a high of -2°C and an overnight low of -8°C.

Friday is when the real cold begins to settle in. The daytime high is expected to reach -8°C, before plunging to -22°C Friday night, and that’s just the start.

As the weekend rolls in, conditions turn even harsher. Saturday’s high will sit at -18°C, with a chance of flurries and an overnight low of -27°C, a staggering 38-degree drop from Monday’s high of 11°C.
