Observations from the Detroit Lions’ Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Rams

First touchback: It took 14 weeks but punter Jack Fox’s streak of punts without a touchback came to an end Sunday in LA. Punting from the Detroit 35-yard line in the fourth quarter, Fox’s 65-yard punt flew into the end zone ending his streak.

Rush defense: Detroit came into Sunday allowing on average 102.7 rushing yards per game this season, which ranked 10th in the NFL. The Rams went to work on the ground against the Lions, finishing with 159 yards on 29 carries (5.5 avg.) with three touchdowns. With all the weapons the Rams have in the pass game, they are almost impossible to stop when they can get into their play-action pass game off the run and the Lions found that out the hard way Sunday.
