Canucks place forward Arshdeep Bains on waivers

The 24-year-old Surrey, B.C., native has spent the entirety of the season in the NHL but has struggled to produce, registering only one goal and four assists in 26 games while logging an average of 9:09 per night.

Over his three-year career with the Canucks, Bains has two goals and four assists in 47 games.

He spent the majority of the three prior seasons in the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks, winning the Calder Cup earlier this year. He has 40 goals and 96 assists in 175 games at the AHL level.

Elsewhere on the waiver wire, the St. Louis Blues claimed forward Jonatan Berggren after he was placed on waivers by the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.

The 25-year-old Swede had two goals and four assists in 15 games with the Red Wings this season and has 31 goals and 33 assists in 169 games since being drafted by Detroit 33rd overall in 2018.

Additionally, the Boston Bruins claimed defenceman Vladislav Kolyachonok from the Dallas Stars, and goaltender Laurent Brossoit went unclaimed after being waived by the Chicago Blackhawks.
