Two of darts’ most decorated stars set foot on the Alexandra Palace stage for the first time this evening on day seven of the Paddy Power World Championship.

Raymond van Barneveld, the 2007 winner and huge crowd favourite, will hope to light up the Palace and topple Stefan Bellmont in the process.

And following the five-time champion into the arena will be James Wade, another multiple major winner who takes on Japan’s Ryusei Azemoto..

Paddy Power World Darts Championship day seven acca

Raymond van Barneveld to beat Stefan Bellmont

Stefan Bellmont’s form has fallen apart in the second half of the Pro Tour season and Barney really should progress.

James Wade to beat Ryusei Azemoto

Ryusei Azemoto is entitled to respect but it will be a huge surprise if he is not outclassed by James Wade.

Martin Schindler to beat Stephen Burton

Stephen Burton is yet to win a set on the Ally Pally stage and he faces another very tough task against Martin Schindler.

Matt Campbell vs Adam Sevada

North America takes centre stage in the night’s opener and Canada’s Matt Campbell should have too much for American debutant Adam Sevada.

Sevada is a five-time winner on the Championship Darts Circuit in the US and Reaper is clearly a decent thrower.

But Campbell, of course, no longer plays on that tour because the Ginga Ninja has a PDC tour card. His floor form has been unremarkable but he did reach the European Darts Open quarters and has won matches on the Ally Pally stage, notably against James Wade and Mensur Suljovic.

Raymond van Barneveld vs Stefan Bellmont

The prices suggest Stefan Bellmont is possibly worth a bet although his form on the Pro Tour over the second half of the season would suggest anything but.

In Bellmont’s last 24 Players Championship events he won just four games, which makes you wonder how on earth he went on to beat James Wade at the Grand Slam last month.

The Swiss star qualifies courtesy of winning the Development Tour and clearly is a threat especially if the great head-shaker that is Barney has an off night.

Pure stats, however, say get on Barney to win a 180s matchbet. He averages a maximum every 4.9 legs on this year’s Pro Tour, compared to Bellmont’s one every 7.1.

James Wade vs Ryusei Azemoto

Ryusei Azemoto took Wesley Plaisier to five sets on his debut 12 months ago although with a sub-80 average.

He has qualified again on the Asian Tour and you would imagine will come on for last year’s run.

That said, James Wade should be far too strong. The Englishman continues to impress and he’s worth backing on the match treble – to win, most 180s and high checkout.

Martin Schindler vs Stephen Burton

Stephen Burton has suffered a pair of 3-0 whitewashes on his two previous tilts at the PDC World Championship and a third may well be coming tonight.

At the very least Martin Schindler ought to win – the German is now very much a top-level operator and far more comfortable on the stage than he ever used to be.

The Wall averages a max every 3.6 legs on the floor in 2025 compared to one every 6.9 for Burton. Take the German to win and hit most 180s.
