“Would You Mind Blowing Me?” Says Flyers’ Play-by-Play Guy Tim Saunders in a Late Submission for Best Hot Mic Moment of 2025

During Thursday night’s Flyers game, there was a third-period moment in which the game went to a commercial break, but the radio call remained live on the air. That resulted in a fantastic hot mic moment from play-by-play guy Tim Saunders:
lol
Transcribed:
Saunders: “Now they’re going to take the TV timeout. We’ll take it as well, seven (minutes) gone in the third, it’s 3-2 Buffalo on the Philadelphia Flyers broadcast network.”
(pause)
Saunders: “While you’re down there, would you mind blowing me?”
Fridge: “I think we’re still on the air Tim.”
(boisterous laughter)
Saunders: “No we’re not, are we?”
(long pause, then more laughing)
Saunders: “Are we?” (long pause) “Do you have us? Talk to me.”
Awesome. Just guys being dudes. You can’t blame Saunders for horsing around during the break because the Flyers at that point were mostly slop and the power play looked like it was still being run by Rocky Thompson. Sam Ersson didn’t have it in net. It was a winnable game that they ended up losing.
But yeah, great hot mic moment right there. It was funny seeing social media react to it in real time. And the Flyers organization better not discipline Tim in any way, shape, or form. He was just busting somebody’s balls. Nothing homophobic, nothing racist, nothing sexist, nothing antisemitic, just a typical thing you’d say to your idiot high school friends in the group text. Better not see any pearl clutching out there. It’s not like he went on a live stream with Adin Ross and sent the entire sports world into a tailspin.
UPDATE:
It’s a two-game suspension, though it doesn’t say Saunders specifically. I personally think this is incredibly soft, but I guess they felt like they had to do it:
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team’s 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University.
