Shelter-in-place ordered after reports of active shooter on Luke Air Force Base

GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — An active shelter-in-place is in effect for reports of an active shooter on Luke Air Force base on Friday morning.
Officials with Luke AFB – 56th Fighter Wing posted on Facebook that authorities are responding to the active shooter reports on the military base. Personnel on base have been told to seek shelter and follow guidance from first responders.
According to Glendale police, authorities are evacuating buildings out of an “overabundance of caution.”
Law enforcement and emergency personnel are en route to the base near Glendale.
“The safety of our Airmen, families, and community is our top priority,” officials said in a statement. “The public is asked to avoid the area and not spread unverified information.”
