After a week of asking, “will it be Kylie” or “will it be Wham!?” – we finally have our answer.
Kylie Minogue has scored Christmas number one for the first time ever, and with that, she has ended Wham!’s attempts of a festive hat trick.
There were a lot of classics in the countdown, but we also had a few first timers reach the Christmas top ten.
Dave & Tems didn’t really bring the festive vibes, but what a song that is. And Lullaby became the highest new entry this week.
If someone had told the music obsessed teenager writing this post he’d one day sit in the Radio 1 studio for the Christmas number one chart, he probably would have asked if you could fast forward time. It was great watching Kaya, Alias and Jack put the show together.
That’s all from us today, but you can get caught up on all the festive fun that unfolded on Radio 1 over here.
Thanks for joining us, and as Kylie said earlier: “We wish you all the merriest of Christmases.”
