Dear Carolyn: My parents don’t like my long-term live-in boyfriend, and I think it all boils down to his profession: He’s a puppeteer. I really think it’s as simple as not liking when their friends ask, “So, what does your daughter’s boyfriend do?” and answering, “He’s a puppeteer.”
