Unidentified human remains found in Pittsylvania County

A set of partial, unidentified human remains have been sent for testing after they were found on private property in Pittsylvania County.

The remains were found by a landowner in the 1200 block of Climax Road just before noon, according to Captain Gerald Ford, who heads the Bureau of Investigations at the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Climax Road is roughly four miles northwest of the county seat of Chatham.

In an email statement, Ford says personnel with the sheriff’s office responded and recovered the partial remains, which have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for examination and identification.
