Reds acquire outfielder from Marlins for minor leaguer

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Cincinnati Reds have bolstered their outfield by acquiring Dane Myers from the Miami Marlins. The Reds sent minor league outfielder Ethan O’Donnell to Miami.

Myers made his first Opening Day roster with the Marlins last season and slashed .235/.291/.326 in 106 games. He appeared in 68 games in center field (58 starts), 31 games in right field (18 starts), and 11 games in left field (6 starts).

The 29-year-old joined the Marlins after being claimed off waivers from the Chicago White Sox in December 2022 and set a team record with 16 hits in his first 10 games.

O’Donnell, 23, was a sixth-round pick by the Reds in the 2023 draft and spent last season with Double-A Chattanooga.

In a related move, the Reds designated pitcher Lyon Richardson for assignment, keeping their 40-man roster full.

It was the second outfielder added to the roster on Saturday, following the signing of free-agent JJ Bleday.
