Liam Neeson’s Relentless Action Franchise Is Heading to Hulu Next Month

If there is one thing that Liam Neeson is known for, it’s the Taken films. This action-thriller trilogy stars the Academy Award-nominated actor, who plays a former CIA agent tasked with taking down shady figures while all he wants to do is spend time with his family. Now, fans will soon be able to see Neeson in this action-packed role as it has found a new streaming home.
Taken and its sequel, Taken 2, will be entering Hulu on January 1, 2026. Unfortunately, its third installment, Taken 3, isn’t being added with them. These films became iconic, not only because they played a role in Neeson’s legacy as an actor, but also because several lines in the movie — “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you” and “a very particular set of skills” — ended up becoming internet memes.
The Taken film franchise began in 2009 and was an immediate success, earning an average critic score of 60% and an audience score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, and grossing over $226 million worldwide. Three years later, its sequel was released. While it outperformed its predecessor at the box office, Taken 2 was poorly received by fans and critics, earning a 22% critics’ score and an average audience score of 52%. The final installment of the Taken films, called Taken 3, continued to disappoint audiences. While it did make over $326 million worldwide, it received a low 13% critics’ score and a 43% audience score, making it the lowest-rated film in the trilogy.
‘Taken’ Was Turned Into a TV Show
Despite the films’ dwindling performance since the franchise began, a TV show was released in 2017, serving as an origin story for Neeson’s character, Bryan Mills. The show aired on NBC and ran for two seasons, but due to “underwhelming ratings” and poor viewership, it was reported that the series was canceled. The show received a low critics’ score of 32%, but gained a decent audience score of 62%.
Neeson didn’t star in this series. Instead, Bryan Mills was played by Clive Standen, known for his roles in Vikings and Doctor Who. Also starring in this show are Jennifer Beals (The Book of Boba Fett), Gaius Charles (The Walking Dead: Dead City), Brooklyn Sudano (90210), Monique Gabriela Curnen (The Dark Knight), and Michael Irby (The Lincoln Lawyer), to name a few.
Taken 1 and 2 will be available to stream on Hulu on January 1, 2026. Follow Collider for the latest updates.
