Woman charged with intoxication manslaughter after fatal crash near the airport

AUSTIN, Texas — A woman is dead after a driver drove the wrong way and crashed on US 183 near the airport on Sunday morning.
APD says that officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver going south in the northbound lanes on US 183 near McCall Lane in southeast Austin, the call coming in just after 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police say multiple vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the drivers involved, a woman in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9:50 a.m., according to APD.
APD said a woman involved in the crash has been charged with intoxication manslaughter. The suspect has not been identified.

Northbound US 183 was shut down for several hours while first responders investigated and cleared the scene. APD said the road was reopened just before 1:10 p.m.
