Essex beauty spot closed to visitors after incident

An Essex beauty spot has been shut after a major incident. The incident happened at Hanningfield Reservoir yesterday afternoon and the site will remain closed today.
At around 2.30pm, emergency services were called to the scene of an incident, closing the site until further notice. Hanningfield Reservoir in Chelmsford has apologised to visitors, announcing on social media that they will remain closed today (Monday December 29). In a post, they commented: “Please note, Hanningfield Reservoir site & Visitor Centre will remain closed tomorrow due to an incident. Please accept our apologies.”
A spokesperson for the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed an incident is ongoing at the site. They said: “At this time we can confirm: Emergency services are currently on scene of an on-going incident at the Hanningfield Reservoir site, Chelmsford.”

Flowers have been laid outside the site following the incident, and Essex Police remain on the scene.
