Man accidentally shoots himself in the chest in Midtown Manhattan, NYPD says

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN (WABC) — A man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the chest in Midtown Manhattan over the weekend, police said.
The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday on 57th Street and Sixth Avenue.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers rushed the man in a police cruiser to Mount Sinai West for treatment.
He is listed in critical but stable condition.
According to the NYPD, the victim gave police a vague description of a suspect wearing all black. Detectives later determined the shooting was self-inflicted.
The man will likely be charged with criminal possession of a weapon and falsely reporting an incident, officials said.
