MATCH PREVIEW | Portsmouth v Charlton

Charlton play their final game of 2025 on Monday night, travelling to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth (KO 7.45pm GMT).

The Addicks will be looking to get back to winning ways following a 1-0 defeat at Norwich City on Boxing Day.

TEAM NEWS 

Amari’i Bell and Reece Burke both returned to Nathan Jones’ squad at Carrow Road, but Josh Edwards (ankle), Onel Hernández (hamstring) and Matty Godden (knee) remain sidelined.

Kayne Ramsay (calf) missed the Boxing Day trip to Norfolk after being forced off during the Addicks’ victory over Oxford United.

Conor Shaughnessy (hamstring) could return for the hosts, though Josh Knight (back), Connor Oglivie (knee), Jacob Farrell (groin), Florian Bianchini (knee), Thomas Waddingham (hip) and Josh Murphy (hamstring) are all expected to miss out.

THE OPPOSITION

Pompey currently sit 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship table having earned 22 points from their 22 fixtures to date.

John Mousinho’s men played out a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Fratton Park on Boxing Day.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Portsmouth are Charlton’s most-played opponents, with the sides having locked horns on 114 previous occasions. The Addicks have won 40 of those, with Pompey winning 44 and the remaining 30 encounters ending in draws.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a goalless draw at The Valley back in February 2024.

Paul Tierney will be the man in the middle on Monday night.
