Fourth seed Stephen Bunting’s early exit from the World Championship means there is potentially an automatic qualification spot in next year’s Premier League up for grabs.

The top four in the world rankings at the end of the tournament are guaranteed places and, with a £1m first prize on offer at Alexandra Palace, it means whoever wins the World Championship will be in the world’s top four.

Jonny Clayton, Gian van Veen and Josh Rock are provisionally ranked fifth, sixth and seventh at the moment, but extending their runs in the event may well be enough to put them above Bunting in the standings.
