Priest catches man breaking into church’s ‘poor box’ in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia police say

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The search continues for a suspect wanted for burglarizing a church in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill section.

Video released by police on Tuesday morning shows the Dec. 20 break-in at Our Mother of Consolation Church on Chestnut Hill Avenue.

Detectives say the priest, who lives above the church, heard a loud noise. When he went to investigate, he saw the man breaking into the “poor box.”

The suspect saw the priest and ran away.

It’s not clear if any money was taken.
