Tom Hardy is gearing up to begin shooting the second season of his hit crime thriller with Pierce Brosnan, but before he returns to MobLand, one of his most underrated classics is finally back on streaming. In 2011, Hardy teamed up with Joel Edgerton (Train Dreams) for Warrior, the MMA movie following two wildly different brothers on a collision course that ends with them facing off in a fighting tournament. Warrior had been absent from streaming for the last few months in America, but the film was recently added to the Prime Video streaming library, where it’s now available to watch for all subscribers.
Warrior was met with widespread critical acclaim, so much so that it earned a Certified Fresh 84% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The film even debuted with a 92% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, a score that would be Verified Hot under the new ratings system for the aggregate site. Despite the strong reviews, Warrior failed at the box office by grossing only $23 million against a $25 million budget. To this day, it’s viewed as one of the more puzzling failures of Hardy’s career, but the film is still both overlooked and underrated in the scope of his wider filmography.
Gavin O’Connor wrote the script for Warrior with Anthony Tambakis and Cliff Dorfman, and O’Connor also directed the film. In the years since Warrior failed at the box office, O’Connor has directed both Accountant movies starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. He’s also attached to direct a third installment in the action franchise, which will return both stars. There were whispers that he was working on a Warrior TV series, but this project has seemingly been scrapped.
When Does Tom Hardy’s New ‘MobLand’ Season Come Out?
Paramount has not announced when the new season of MobLand will be released, but it has been confirmed that production will begin at the start of the new year. As long as it doesn’t take the MobLand production team longer than expected to wrap up filming on Season 2, it’s possible that the second season of the hit series could arrive before the end of 2026. MobLand also stars Helen Mirren, and the show is directed and produced by Guy Ritchie. It was written and created for TV by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth.
Be sure to check out Warrior on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
