Record-breaking talent Billy Loughnane busts yet another stat – so what could be on his wishlist for 2026?

In many ways, it was very fitting that Billy Loughnane’s modern record-breaking 222nd winner of the year in Britain came on the all-weather.
Loughnane, who has been riding racehorses since the age of 11 and watching his weight since the age of 13, spent the majority of his Saturday nights at Wolverhampton following his father Mark’s runners, and made his name on the Tapeta and Polytrack with a sparkling start to his career in the winter of 2022-23.
His first winner came at Dunstall Park aboard Swiss Rowe in November 2022, when claiming 7lb – the after-timers might call that good value – and, just 11 months on from his first mount, he rode out his claim with a 95th winner aboard Lambert at Kempton in September 2023.
