Forest Green Rovers are thought to be close to agreeing a deal for Merthyr Town striker Ricardo Rees.

Bristol Rovers are also thought to be keen on the forward, with a decision expected to be made on January 1.

The 26-year-old has scored 25 goals in 24 league appearances this season in the National League North for the Welsh outfit, including a goal and assist on Tuesday evening against Hereford.

Rees came through the Bristol City academy and has since played for Bath City, Salisbury and Yate Town before signing for Merthyr in the 2022/23 season.

Forest Green still have hopes of promotion this season, and Rees’ quality would add to the striking department of Temi Babalola, Kairo Mitchell and Christian Doidge.

Forest Green declined to comment when approached.
