Ring in the 2026 New Year from Sydney to Seoul
New Year’s celebrations took place in cities in the East and Pacific.
The new year has arrived, and whether you need a quick cup of coffee to help with your hangover or are craving a burger and some fries, diners will have plenty of options on New Year’s Day this year.
Consumers looking to grab a quick bite to eat or start the new year with some retail therapy are in luck, as most national grocery and retail chains will remain open on New Year’s Day this year, as well as many restaurant chains. Banks, post offices, and the stock market will be closed on the holiday.
McDonald’s is one of the many chains that will be open on Jan. 1, a company spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY. The fast-food chain’s hours vary by location, however, and the company recommends diners check with their local restaurant to confirm their holiday hours.
You can find the McDonald’s closest to you using the company’s store locator.
