New Year’s Day will bring another round of holiday closures to stores, offices and services in New Brunswick.
Most grocery stores will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, and no transit services will run.
Here’s a look at what else is open and closed on New Year’s Day across the province.
Retail and grocery
- Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations will be open until 5 p.m. or 6 p.m., depending on the store.
- Sobeys, Real Atlantic Superstore and Walmart stores will be closed.
- Costco locations in Fredericton, Saint John and Moncton are closed on New Year’s Day, including the gas bar.
- Victory Meat Market stores n downtown Fredericton and on Lincoln Road are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
- N.B. Liquor and Cannabis N.B. locations will be closed.
- Regent Mall in Fredericton, McAllister Place in Saint John and Champlain Place in Dieppe will be closed.
- The Saint John City Market will be closed.
On Friday, Jan. 2, all of these locations will be open.
Tourism and attractions:
- Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton will be closed.
- The Fredericton Region Museum will be closed.
- Resurgo Place in Moncton will be closed
- Magnetic Hill Zoo will be open and featuring its wild lights exhibit which are holiday lights shining throughout the park.
The art gallery and two museums will reopen on Jan. 2.

Government offices, public services:
- Service New Brunswick and Service Canada will be closed.
- Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton’s city halls will be closed.
- Saint John Transit, Fredericton Transit and Codiac Transpo in Moncton will not run.
- Garbage collection will stick to its regular schedule in Saint John. In Fredericton and Moncton, collection scheduled for Jan. 1 will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 3.
- Fredericton arenas and the indoor pool will be closed. Saint John arenas will be closed as well.
- In Moncton, the Greenfoot Energy 4-Plex and Moncton Coliseum will be closed. The Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena is open on New Year’s Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with free activities for all ages.
- Public libraries across New Brunswick will be closed.
None of these locations or services are listed as closed on Friday.
