Martin O’Neill event cancelled as Celtic return rumours swirl

Celtic legend Martin O’Neill was due to turn out at a fan event on Friday but it has now been cancelled. The hugely successful manager left his post as interim manager after a successful five week spell but there have been rumours swirling that he could replace embattled Wilfried Nancy.

The Irishman is expected to be in attendance at Paradise on Sky Sports duties but there has been a clamouring for him to assume control.

Now, ACSOM’s Paul Dykes has confirmed that the event has been cancelled – which will heighten speculation that a change could be coming.

Nancy has lost five games out of his first seven in charge. Pressure is mounting and the manager needs to beat Rangers to retain any hope of turning things around. There had been talk on social media and Celtic forums that O’Neill could be parachuted back into the dugout, especially given the shambolic defeat against Motherwell. You would’ve expected a change to be made by now if the club were planning on replacing Nancy.
