Elijah Dotson becomes 2nd Michigan portal loss under Whittingham

Michigan football has managed to not have an exodus to the transfer portal after all of the turmoil in Ann Arbor. But the Wolverines aren’t immune to losing players, even with the upward trajectory that should come with Kyle Whittingham and his new-look staff.
One of the biggest gets for the maize and blue last cycle was getting 2025 Belleville (Mich.) four-star safety Elijah Dotson. Dotson’s commitment signaled that his high school teammate, Bryce Underwood, could be on his way (as was the case), but Dotson was a big player in his own right. Once he arrived on campus, Dotson converted to corner and played quite well, even netting an interception early in the season.
However, Dotson is the second post-Whittingham hire entry into the transfer portal, with QB Davis Warren being the other, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Dotson had 11 tackles, one QB hurry, and one interception in his freshman campaign. He appeared in 12 games his his first year and will thus have three years of eligibility remaining.
With Dotson departing, the Wolverines still have a few 2025 defensive backs remaining, such as Jayden Sanders, Shamari Earls, and Kainoa Winston.
