City still in ‘significant weather event’ as plows keep cleaning, more snow coming

Environment Canada’s weather alert remains in effect, with snow squalls possible tonight and into Friday — and another 15 to 30 cm of snow expected

City snow-clearing crews are still digging out of Monday’s major snowfall — with more white stuff on the way.

The city said in a social media post today that its earlier declaration of a “significant weather event” remains in place.

“This does not mean roads are closed or that service levels have changed,” the post said. “It simply reflects the challenges our crews face in restoring roads and sidewalks to ideal conditions. During this time, all city-maintained roads and sidewalks are considered to be in a state of repair.”

Environment Canada’s weather alert remains in effect, with snow squalls possible tonight and into Friday — and another 15 to 30 cm of snow expected. Drivers are being warned about potential periods of reduced visibility due to heavy and blowing snow.

“Please drive to conditions, stay safe, and thank you for your patience,” the city says.
