Toulouse to win
Toulouse vs Lens
Ligue 1, 7.45pm Friday
Lens start 2026 at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, although Pierre Sage’s men are still as big as 14-1 to be crowned champions of France.
A point ahead of European champions Paris Saint-Germain, Lens have a five-point buffer to Marseille in third place but they face an awkward trip to Toulouse on Friday.
This time last year, Sage was on the verge of being sacked by Lyon but he has proved to be a wise appointment by Lens in the summer.
They rarely outclass their opponents away from home, however. Four of their five road victories were by a 2-1 scoreline and three of those came against relegation-threatened Le Havre, Auxerre and Nantes.
Lens also lost 2-0 at bottom club Metz at the end of October and Toulouse look a nice price to upset the leaders, having beaten Strasbourg 1-0 and Paris FC 3-0 in their last two games.
Those wins followed a creditable 2-2 draw away to Marseille and they have been beaten by more than one goal only once this season: in August’s chaotic 6-3 home defeat to PSG.
