Suspect in Matalam grenade attack shot dead
Police gunned down one of the two suspects in the New Year’s Day grenade attack in Barangay Dalapitan, Matalam, North Cotabato that left 22 persons, including 10 minors, injured.
Lieutenant James Warren Caang, North Cotabato Police Provincial Office spokesperson said police killed the suspect in a shootout in Barangay Kilada, also in Matalam town, about 8pm Thursday, hours after the attack.

LTO summons driver who made obscene gesture, brandished gun in CDO
The Land Transportation Office in Region 10 has issued a show cause order to the registered owner and female driver of a white Isuzu pick-up who went viral after she brandished a firearm and made an offensive gesture toward another motorist in Cagayan de Oro City.

10 nabbed for illegal mining in Butuan City
Police in Butuan City raided a mining camp last Monday and arrested 10 people caught in the act of extracting gold ore, a report said.
Lt Col Randie Azote, commander of the Butuan City Mobile Force Company said the suspects could not produce any documents when they raided their mining camp in Barangay Bilay last Monday.
Azote said the suspects were charged for violating Section 8 of Republic Act No. 7076 otherwise known as the People’s Small-Scale Mining act and are presently detained at the Butuan City Jail. (Froilan Gallardo/MindaNews)
