Killer Kross Has A Special Way He Likes To Torment Matt Cardona (Exclusive)

Killer Kross is a performer who leaves it all in the ring every time he competes, extracting a heavy toll from his opponents. Since moving on from WWE after his surprise release this summer, Kross has been the most sought-after performer on the independent scene, taking names and being proverbially all out of bubble gum.

In one of his more notable appearances, Kross tagged with Jimmy Lloyd against The Major Players, Matt Cardona and Brian Myers, at last month’s GCW Dream On. In an exclusive conversation with TheSportster, Killer Kross talked about a key component of the match, and his special way to torment Matt Cardona.

That’s Gotta Be… Killer Kross?!

No stranger to some of the more terrifying performers in wrestling history, Matt Cardona has a storied history with WWE Superstar Kane. During his tenure with the company, no one tormented Cardona, then known as Zack Ryder, as much as the Big Red Machine, throwing him off the entrance ramp, down stairs, and displaying a consistent and general lack of well-being for the Broski.

During their match at GCW Dream On, Killer Kross took his torment to the next level by donning a Kane mask, and giving a big chokelsma in the ring to Cardona. He was thrilled to bring the fear to Cardona, although he wanted to take it a step further by pushing him down the stairs or the escalator at the home of the event, the American Dream Mall.

I do love to throw people down the stairs. I’ve had a history of throwing people down the stairs that we can’t get into because the black helicopters will show up at your house and mine.

Kross says these callbacks and tidbits he works into his matches are purposeful, allowing his opponent to shine without making it all about himself. Cardona is no different, he says, and wanted to do something fun to the delight of the crowd.

Matt Cardona has such a rich history. As much as I despise him as a human being, I respect him immensely as a professional. You cannot overlook the fact that Kane terrorized him. It was one of the most entertaining periods of his career. I just thought, on a GCW show in a unique venue like that, where we’re in a mall and there’s thousands of people walking by the ring all day, and then there’s people who purchase tickets that are there. Everything that’s going to be on the show, I look at the card from the top to bottom. I know everybody’s stuff. I watch the products. What are they going to do? What’s the one thing that I can do differently that people are going to remember. Well, I can traumatize Matt Cardona with a Kane mask, and I don’t think anyone else has done that.

Would Matt Cardona Become Something Vicious Donning The Kane Mask?

Killer Kross and Jimmy Lloyd were victorious in their match against The Major Players, assuredly due to Kross utilizing the Kane mask and putting the fear of God into him. Kross continues his warpath of destruction next month by entering MLW’s Battle Riot VIII, competing for a shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Championship.

Kross said he was happy to have brought a fun moment to his match, but an intrusive thought entered his brain. It was one he couldn’t get past, and one he needed an answer to.

I had a moment where I thought, ‘God, what if I took the cane mask off and I put it on Matt? Is he going to become Michael Myers?’

He might become a total psychopath. You know what I mean? Chelsea [Green] might move out. Or she becomes Paula Bearer.

Neither Green nor Cardona have publicly responded to Kross’ theory on Cardona’s potentially evil ways. However, if Kross has his way, we may find out sooner than later whether his premonition is accurate, and what would happen next might terrify the entire independent wrestling scene.
