Report: Blue Jays ‘in mix’ for Tucker, Bichette, Bellinger and Bregman

After signing a handful of top-end arms, the Toronto Blue Jays have long been linked to some of the top bats available on the market.

The new calendar year hasn’t changed a thing.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported on Thursday that the reigning American League champions are “in the mix” for four of the top position players — outfielders Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger, and infielders Bo Bichette and Alex Bregman.

According to Feinsand, the Jays “remain the favourite to land Tucker.”

Tucker, a four-time all-star, as well as a Gold Glover and World Series champion, made headlines throughout Canada and the baseball world after he visited the Blue Jays’ training facility in December.

The 28-year-old star outfielder had a down year by his standards in 2025 as he dealt with an injury, slashing .266/.377/.464 with 22 home runs and 74 RBIs in 136 games with the Chicago Cubs.

With Bo Bichette remaining unsigned, Tucker’s potential addition would help replace the offensive void left if the free agent shortstop skipped town.

Feinsand also added that the Blue Jays and the Arizona Diamondbacks “may be the two most aggressive clubs in the hunt” for Alex Bregman.

Toronto reportedly was interested in Bregman last season, before he ultimately joined the Red Sox. The 31-year-old enjoyed a solid season in Boston, hitting .273 with 18 homers and 62 RBIs.

With the Jays’ interest in Bregman, Feinsand noted that Bichette’s future may be tied to what happens with Bregman, as the Red Sox reportedly also are in on both players.

Last month, Bichette’s camp reportedly told interested clubs that he’d be willing to shift to second base — his position when he returned to the lineup for the World Series — in an effort to increase outside interest.

The Blue Jays’ desire to add an impact leaves no stone unturned, as Feinsand added that they “remain in the mix” for Bellinger.

Bellinger clobbered 29 homers and drove in 98 runs — his most since 2019 — in his first season with the New York Yankees while playing over 40 innings in all three outfield positions.
