Preview: Preston North End (H)

Bristol City are back at Ashton Gate on Sunday, January 4th (3pm) as they host Preston North End.

City ran rampant against Portsmouth on New Year’s Day, delighting the Red Army with five goals at Ashton Gate.

Anis Mehmeti and Scott Twine continue to add to their goal tally, scoring their eighth and seventh goal of the season.

Adam Randell netted his second in as many games and after a run of goalless performances, Sinclair Armstrong bagged a brace.

Since Boxing Day, the Robins have earned six points from a possible nine and Sunday’s test is an opportunity to close out the festive period with another win.

As ever, top of the Sky Bet Championship remains tight and Sunday will be a battle of sixth against eighth as City are just one point off Preston.

Gerhard Struber’s side will welcome the six-day gap ahead of their Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie with Watford at the Gate on Saturday, January 10th (5:45pm).

Our Opponents: Preston North End

Preston North End travel to BS3 with two wins, two draws and only one loss in their last five.

A comfortable three-nil win over Sheffield United on New Year’s Day saw Paul Heckingbottom’s side move into the top six.

Despite only one loss in their last nine, five draws to their name have seen them claim ten fewer points than they would like.

Victory against City would be the first consecutive win since the beginning of November – a feat they will no doubt be targeting.

ONE TO WATCH: DANIEL JEBBISON

Canadian-born, Daniel Jebbison moved to England as a teen and joined Sheffield United as a youth player.

Graduating from the academy, Jebbison went on loan to Chorley before returning and making his Blades debut against Crystal Palace in 2021.

The forward enjoyed a loan spell at League One side Burton Albion before signing a four-year deal with Bournemouth.

While on the South Coast, the now Preston man joined Watford on loan, where he made 13 appearances before returning to the Cherries.

Jebbison has made 21 appearances so far for Bournemouth and has scored three goals.

Preston North End secured the 22-year-old on a season-long loan ahead of the 2025/26 season and is currently tied for the team’s golden boot with five goals after 19 games.

Internationally, Jebbison shone as a Young English Lion, being capped at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-20 level.

Although eligible for England, the North American-born player committed his eligibility to Canada in February 2025 before debuting against Mexico in March.
