Falcons owner recruiting Matt Ryan to join front office, per report

Report: Arthur Blank wants Ryan to take over ‘high-profile position’ in front office.

According to a report from NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Atlanta Falcons are recruiting former MVP quarterback Matt Ryan to join their front office. Falcons owner Arthur Blank has had talks with Ryan about taking a “high-profile” front office position with the team that drafted him third overall in 2008.

Atlanta has missed the playoffs for eight consecutive years, and despite making some improvements on defense this season, the team still can’t seem to get over the hump. Ryan helped lead the Falcons to the Super Bowl in 2016, and he knows what a winning football team looks like.

While there’s no guarantee that the Falcons will make any major coaching or front office changes, fans are sick and tired of losing every year. According to Glazer, people close to Ryan believe he is “seriously considering” Blank’s offer.

During his 14 seasons in Atlanta (2008-2021), Ryan passed for 59,735 yards, 367 touchdowns and 170 interceptions while leading the team to 120 regular-season wins. In 2016, Ryan finished with 38 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.

Falcons fans (and former players) were intrigued by the idea of bringing on Ryan, with many giving Blank their stamp of approval on social media.
