Long Beach hit-and-run crash leaves 2 dead, search underway for driver

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — Two people were killed and three others were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Long Beach overnight, prompting a search for the driver responsible.
The deadly incident happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 6th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Investigators believe the suspect was speeding eastbound on 6th when they crashed into two cars going south on Atlantic.
The suspect took off from the scene before police arrived.
A man and woman died at the scene. They have not been identified. Three other adult victims were taken to the hospital with injuries, but they are all expected to be OK.
The investigation is ongoing.
