Nicki Minaj was criticized when she praised Donald Trump and a PR expert has now warned it “could be the end of her career.”
The 43-year-old rapper made headlines when she spoke highly of both the president and J.D. Vance. Minaj praised the pair for being “people with heart and soul” as she appeared alongside Erika Kirk, late wife of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest.
Minaj also said she “love[s] both of them.” Fans were outraged by the comments, with petitions calling for the musician to be deported to Trinidad and Tobago, where she was born and lived until the age of five, going viral online.

With fans turning their backs on Minaj, PR expert Megan Dooley has issued a warning to the rapper. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, she shared, “Nicki Minaj has been known to have had die-hard fans – ‘The Barbz’ – established over decades of being named the best female rapper. Nicki Minaj has been close to being ‘cancelled’ even before AmericaFest, facing backlash on multiple occasions for various controversies like supporting her brother’s bail, and feuds with Jay-Z and Cardi B that left many of us wondering, ‘Where is her PR team?!'”

Dooley continued, “Now, even rappers and artists with the most loyal fanbases and influence cannot escape backlash from perceived distasteful political opinions – especially when these opinions perpetuate hate.
“Nicki Minaj’s opinions on Trump appeared to do a 360, and this inconsistency in public beliefs alone erodes trust for your audience from a PR perspective.” Indeed, Minaj’s praise of the president stands in stark contrast to comments she made in 2018.
She previously criticized Trump’s administration, writing on Instagram at the time, “I came to this country as an illegal immigrant. I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place & having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5,” as she spoke out against the policy of separating children from their families at the border and detaining them indefinitely.

Minaj concluded her post, “This is so scary to me. Please stop this. Can you try to imagine the terror & panic these kids feel right now? Not knowing if their parents are dead or alive, if they’ll ever see them again.”
After Minaj’s changing Trump views, Dooley suggested AmericaFest was “the cherry on top of a long list of public controversies.” The PR expert also pointed to Minaj’s recent social media activity.
The rapper deactivated her Instagram towards the end of last year, with Dooley telling us, “Deactivating Instagram was a huge indicator that backlash became out of control – with a reported almost immediate estimated loss of 3-4 million followers.”

Dooley warned this backlash “could be the end of her career,” but she suggested it’s “likely Nicki will not go down without a fight.” The expert explained, “It’s possible that we could see a clap back – as reportedly done previously with Big Foot being released as an alleged diss track of Megan Thee Stallion in response to her Hiss single.”
The expert also suggested Minaj could take some time away from her career. “We could see Nicki Minaj disappear for months or even years, then make a sudden return with a new album, and maybe even a re-branded persona,” she told us.
Dooley concluded, “Trump could well defend Nicki given she has aligned herself as a fan of his, yet it’s likely this would’ve taken place imminently – not months later. It’s more likely Nicki Minaj will take a step back from the spotlight and bide her time, rather than adding fuel to the fire, but it’s often the element of surprise with Minaj and The Barbz.”
