‘The Pitt’ Renewed For Season 3 At HBO Max Ahead Of Season 2

The Pitt will stay open. HBO Max has renewed the medical drama for a third season ahead of the launch of its sophomore season.
The news emerged at the season two premiere event in LA.
The series, which was created by by R. Scott Gemmill, stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and follows a group of healthcare workers at a hospital in Pittsburgh.
It also stars Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon, Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan, Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay, Taylor Dearden as Dr. King, Isa Briones as Dr. Santos, Gerran Howell as Whitaker, Shabana Azeez as Javadi, and Sepideh Moafi as Dr. Al-Hashimi.
Deadline revealed last month that Rusty Schwimmer, Jayne Taini and Annabelle Toomey are set as recurring guest stars for season two, alongside Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley and Jeff Kober, Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson and Zack Morris.
Meta Golding, Luke Tennie, Christopher Thornton and Travis Van Winkle also joined.
However, Tracy Ifeachor will not return for Season 2 as Dr. Heather Collins.
It is produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Gemmill exec produces alongside Wyle, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich.
The Pitt launches its second season on Thursday January 8 at 9pm ET.
Season 2 will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which concluded April 10. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill hinted that Season 2 will take place over Fourth of July weekend during a day-long shift, which will likely see all kinds of ER patients.
Gemmill also teased that Wyle’s character Dr. “Robby” Robinavitch will acknowledge that he needs help regarding his mental health in Season 2. A main thread in Season 1 was Robby’s inability to cope with his mentor’s death during the pandemic.
On Sunday, Wyle won Best Actor in a Drama Series at the Critics Choice Awards.
“I can’t even tell you how moved I am. I owe everybody at this table everything: from my partner [R.] Scott Gemmill, to Sarah Aubrey and Joey Chavez at HBO Max, to everybody at Warner Bros., to my beautiful wife Sara [Wells], to my costars, to my cowriters, to the directors who make the show, to our crew, to our cast,” he said.
