The A74(M) motorway has been shut in both directions in southern Scotland following “multiple collisions” due to icy conditions.
Emergency services have been called out to the scene between junction 14 at Crawford in South Lanarkshire and junction 16 for Johnstonebridge in Dumfries and Galloway.
Police advised drivers to avoid the area if possible as they dealt with the incident.
Traffic Scotland said it was not known how long the road would be closed.
