Tottenham Pushing for Signing This Week After Talks With £200,000-a-Week Star

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing to bring in a new midfielder this week, with Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher a leading target for Thomas Frank’s side, according to TEAMtalk.
Spurs are yet to make a new addition in the January transfer window, which is perhaps a frustrating situation for supporters after a difficult start to the season. The north London club are yet to replace Brennan Johnson, who joined Crystal Palace for a fee of around £35m earlier in the window.
GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed this week that Tottenham have made a formal offer to sign Santos left-back Souza, in the region of €15m. That’s Spurs’ second bid they’ve placed to try and secure his signature, with Santos now evaluating their latest offer.
Tottenham Pushing for Midfield Signing
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are pushing to secure the ‘crucial’ signing of a new midfielder this week, with manager Frank looking for a high-energy player to add to their options in the middle of the park. Top of Tottenham’s list is Atletico Madrid’s Gallagher, who has struggled to be a guaranteed starter under Diego Simeone this season.
Gallagher is open to returning to the Premier League, while Tottenham are in contact as they hope to secure his signature. A loan or permanent move could be possible in terms of Tottenham and Gallagher, but it’s unclear what kind of deal Atletico would be willing to sanction this month.
Gallagher reportedly earns in the region of £200,000-a-week at Atletico, which could complicate a deal. The Spanish club will likely want a large portion of his wages covered, and it’s unclear whether Spurs would be willing to pay that.

The loss of Brennan Johnson earlier in the window should push Spurs to bring in a new forward before the market closes. Johnson wasn’t a guaranteed starter under Frank, but there’s no doubt the north London club still need to find a replacement for him in the January transfer window.
Spurs are fairly well-stacked in the striker department, with Randal Kolo Muani, Richarlison, Dominic Solanke, and Mathys Tel as options for Frank, but another winger could be eyed. Mohammed Kudus recently suffered an injury, while some of their wide options are inexperienced, especially when it comes to Premier League football.
