The new year began with Oscar hopefuls landing at the Palm Springs International Film Festival gala, where Timotheé Chalamet, Michael B. Jordan, Adam Sandler and “Hamnet” were among the honorees.

The following morning, Variety celebrated Dwayne Johnson, Teyana Taylor and Guillermo Del Toro at the annual 10 Directors to Watch and Creative Impact Awards brunch at the Parker Palm Springs hotel.

Back in Los Angeles, awards season continued at the Critics Choice Awards and the Golden Globes Golden Eve dinner and ceremony, where Sarah Jessica Parker was presented with the Carol Burnett Award and Helen Mirren was toasted with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.

And that was “Heated Rivalry” star Connor Storrie and “Abbott Elementary” star Janelle James announcing the Actor Awards nominations at the SAG-AFTRA offices in Los Angeles.
