Payton Pritchard is the Celtics ‘Name to Know’ Player of the Game in Friday’s win over Raptors

The Celtics put on a shooting clinic on Friday night at TD Garden against the Raptors and Payton Pritchard was front and center with his playmaking.
Pritchard feasted against the Raptors defense all night, making 10 of his first 15 shots before finishing with 27 points. The stellar performance makes him Friday’s “Name to Know” Player of the Game. The Name to Know Player of the Game is sponsored by John’s Sewer and Drain Cleaning, the Name to Know when your drains don’t flow.
It was Pritchard’s second straight superb outing against a Raptors defense that had been the ranked No. 1 in the NBA over the past month. Pritchard erupted for 33 points and 10 assists in a win over Toronto on Dec. 20 and he was even more efficient in this matchup.
He went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and shot 12-of-19 from the field against a feisty Raptors backcourt that played with plenty of ball pressure. Pritchard was able to shake his defenders in isolation situations throughout the night, setting himself up for open jumpers in the midrange while also finding open teammates on the perimeter. Pritchard also finished with a team-high eight assists in the victory.
The Celtics finished with six players in double figures in the victory, with five of those players shooting 50 percent or better from the field.
The victory gives Boston eight wins in their last 10 games and clinches the season series over Toronto with one head-to-head game remaining. The Celtics also now hold a two-game lead over the Raptors for the No. 3 seed in the East.
Pritchard and the Celtics will be back in action at TD Garden on Saturday night when they face off against the Spurs.
