World’s best bull riders coming to Grand Rapids for ‘electrifying’ shows

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The world’s top rising and established bull riders are set to go head-to-head with powerful bucking bulls in Grand Rapids this month.

Professional Bull Riders (PBR) association arrives with its Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour on Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids. The “electrifying adrenaline rush” brings 35 elite riders to compete against some of the sport’s most challenging bulls.

The Friday evening session begins at 8 p.m., with Saturday’s competition starting at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $40 to $340. To find more ticket information, visit PBR’s website here.

Riders will face two initial rounds of competition before the field narrows to the top 10 performers based on aggregate scores. Those advancing will compete in a championship round for the event title.

Marcus Mast claimed the Grand Rapids event buckle in 2025 with an aggregate score of 234 points, edging out Cody Teel by 1.5 points.

Among the competitors scheduled to appear is Michael Lane entering his 18th season with PBR. The Tazewell, Virginia native has covered 257 bulls throughout his career and won 19 events.

The event will also feature the NextGen rider development program, which showcases amateur bull riding at select Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour stops.

Grand Rapids native Moria Novakoski, a 15-year-old female rider, will compete after finishing second in the program’s debut at St. Louis, MO.
