Live updates: NFL playoffs kick off with Rams vs. Panthers

The Rams were heavy favorites coming into the day, but now they take the ball with the game tied after blowing a 14-point lead.

On second down, Matthew Stafford attempts a long pass to Puka Nacua and appears visibly frustrated when it goes for an incomplete, his seventh-straight, which is his longest streak of incompletions since joining the Rams.

But on the next play, he snuffs out the streak there with a successful 19-yard pass to Adams for the first down.

On another long would-be catch, Davante Adams gets hit in the helmet by the Panthers’ Nick Scott for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. He’s taken to the blue injury tent for evaluation but later clears concussion testing, according to the broadcast.

A couple more incomplete passes from Stafford mean the Rams have to settle for a 42-yard field goal.

At least they retake the lead.

Score: Rams 20, Panthers 17
