The struggling Florida Panthers (22-18-3) will continue its jaunt through eastern Canada when they battle the Ottawa Senators (20-18-5) tonight at Canadian Tire Centre in suburban Kanata.
Florida has been outscored 10-3 in the first two games of the road trip. On Thursday, they were beaten by 6-2 by the Montreal Canadiens, marking the seventh-straight time they’ve lost to the Habs. Sam Bennett scored both goals for the Panthers. The first was unassisted and the second was set up by Evan Rodrigues and Niko Mikkola. Sergei Bobrovksy surrendered five goals on just 19 shots. Prospect Sandis Vilmanis has been recalled and is expected to make his NHL debut.
While the Cats were losing to the Canadiens, the Senators got crushed 8-2 by the Colorado Avalanche in Denver. The loss was the third in a row for Ottawa, who like the Panthers are 4-5-1 in their last ten games. Tim Stutzle leads the team in goals (19), assists (26) and points (45) and is one of just six Senators with a plus-rating.
