When is the 2026 Super Bowl? Who’s performing at halftime? What to know

For the first time since the 2017-2018 NFL season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance at making it to the Super Bowl this February.

But there are still a few games to be played to determine which two teams will face off in Super Bowl LX (60) next month. And this weekend’s Wild Card games will be instrumental in determining which two teams will be on that coveted national stage.

Some things, like where and when the Super Bowl will be held and who will be performing the halftime show this year, are already decided.

Here’s what to know about Super Bowl 60, as of Jan. 9, 2026.

When and where is the Super Bowl 2026?

Super Bowl 2026 will be held on Sunday, Feb. 8, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The game will be at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET.

What does the LX stand for in the Super Bowl?

Each Super Bowl is named with Roman numerals. This is because the NFL season is split between two calendar years. Although the current season began in 2025, the playoffs and Super Bowl fall in 2026. Using Roman numerals helps clear the confusion of the championship for the 2025 season falling in 2026.

This year’s Super Bowl will be the 60th, so it’s called Super Bowl LX. In Roman numerals, L is equal to 50 and X is equal to 10, which is why Super Bowl 60 is Super Bowl LX.

Who is playing in the Super Bowl 2026? Could a Florida team make the cut?

It’s much too early to accurately predict which two teams will face off in Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8, but the Jacksonville Jaguars could still make it to the Super Bowl. The Jaguars have never made it to a Super Bowl, but the last time the Florida-based team got close was in the 2017-2018 season.

Some early Super Bowl predictions, like one from USA TODAY’s For the Win, predict the Jacksonville team will make it to the February championship and possibly even win.

“The Jaguars are one of the hottest teams in the league, and Trevor Lawrence’s quarterback play is a massive part of that,” one For the Win prediction says. “The Rams are a remarkably complete team. The Jags, however, are a complete wagon right now.”

As of Jan. 9, 14 teams are still “alive,” and 12 of them, including the Jaguars, will play in Wild Card games this weekend.

“In a season where everyone is flawed and no one was truly dominant, the field remains wide open. The top seeds in either conference are vulnerable,” For the Win says. “The worst teams in the AFC and NFC are both guaranteed at least one home game.”

Who is performing at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show?

Bad Bunny was announced as the Super Bowl 60 halftime performer in a commercial during a Cowboys-Packers game on Sunday, Sept. 28. The Puerto Rican reggaeton sensation was seen during a commercial break sitting on a goal post on a beach, wearing a pava, a traditional hat made of Puerto Rican hat palm leaves (a nod to his heritage).

He reposted the commercial clip to his Instagram profile, captioning it “Super Bowl LX. Bay Area. February 2026.”

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… This is for my people, my culture and our history,” he said in a statement shared by the NFL.

“Ve y dile tu abuela que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

For non-Spanish speakers, the last part of the quote translates to “Go on and tell your grandma that we’ll be at the Super Bowl halftime show.”

This won’t be Bad Bunny’s first time on the Super Bowl halftime stage, though, as he joined in on Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2020.

Who is singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl?

Grammy-nominated pop singer Charlie Puth will sing “The Star Spangled Banner” in the Super Bowl LX pregame show.

Multi-genre singer-songwriter and producer Brandi Carlile will sing “America the Beautiful,” and singer-songwriter and actress Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” which is sometimes referred to as the Black National Anthem.
