Tyrone v Down LIVE: Updates from Pomeroy as O’Rourke’s Red Hands face Laverty’s Mournemen in the McKenna Cup

Tyrone and Down face off in the last fixture of Section A in the Dr McKenna Cup as the Red Hands look to seal their place in the semi-final.
Malachy O’Rourke’s side won their previous fixture against Armagh at the Athletic Grounds.
Kieran McGeeney’s Orchardmen gained retribution against Laverty’s Mournemen last time out, which was also played at the Athletic Grounds due to a double refixture, initially from Newry to Burren and then from Burren to Armagh.
If the O’Neill county comes out on top, they will coast through to the semi-final; however, if Down manage a victory, Armagh will finish top and go through to the last four.
The last time these two sides played each other was in the 2017 Ulster Senior Football Championship final, with Ronan O’Neill’s two goals in the second half to earn their second Ulster title in a row.
Down have experienced some controversy in the lead up to this game, with the County committee set to vote next week on whether to withdraw their senior inter-county sides from the upcoming National Leagues due to the competition’s sponsorship by Allianz.
